Important safety advice following national public disorder
Following the recent scenes of violent disorder in some parts of the country, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is providing advice on how to keep your home safe.

We are working with our police partners and other agencies to plan and respond to any potential disorder here in Shropshire.

There are steps you can take to protect your home from fire:

Ensure you have working smoke alarms on every floor: Carry out regular tests and replace any faulty alarms or batteries
Keep your escape route clear: This allows you to evacuate quickly in the event of a fire
Remove waste, particularly cardboard : These items can be highly flamable and can be used as fuel to set fires, especially if stored outside your home
Store outdoor bins securely: Ensure that any wheelie bins are stored in a secure area where they cannot be tampered with
You can find more fire prevention and safety information on our website here:

In the event of a fire: Get out, stay out and call 999.
